Terms
Cassiopeia is free to use. These are the ground rules, written to be read.

Working draft. This describes how Cassiopeia works today, in plain language. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer yet, and it will be before public launch, especially the parts about younger users, voice and chat.
Using Cassiopeia
You can use Cassiopeia for your own study, work and rest. There is no charge, no paid plan and no account needed.
By using it, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use it.
Who can use it
You must be 13 or older to use Cassiopeia, and 16 or older to start or join a joint session.
If you are under 18, get a parent or guardian's agreement before joining rooms with people you don't know.
Your music and sounds
Cassiopeia does not host or supply music. You bring it: files on your device, links you paste, or YouTube videos. Only play what you have the right to play.
YouTube playback depends on YouTube. A video can be unavailable, blocked from playing outside YouTube, or removed at any time, and playing it through Cassiopeia is subject to YouTube's Terms of Service.
Joint sessions
A room is a shared space. Be considerate of the people in it. Do not use a display name that is offensive, impersonates someone, or contains personal details.
The person who starts a room is its host. They can lock it, mute or remove people, and end it. Everyone else can leave at any time, and can hide, mute or report anyone in the room.
Rooms are private only in that they are not listed. Anyone with the link or code can join, so treat the link like a key you have handed out.
Voice, chat and shared audio
Voice and chat are for friendly conversation. Messages pass through a language filter and a rate limit, and reports are reviewed by a person. Do not send abusive, sexual, hateful or threatening content, or share anyone's personal information.
A host can share audio from their own device with the room. Only share what you have the right to share. Streaming someone else's music to a room can break copyright law or the terms of the service it came from, and you are responsible for what you share.
Hiding, reporting and removal
Rooms put people in live contact, so everyone needs a way out of a bad situation. That is why anyone can hide or report another person, and why hosts can mute, remove and lock.
Reports are kept for 30 days with a copy of the reported message, and may lead to someone losing access.
What is not allowed
Do not harass other people, disrupt rooms, try to get around the chat filter or rate limit, use Cassiopeia to break the law, or try to break, overload or gain unauthorised access to the service.
Suspension
Rooms can be ended, messages removed, and access to joint sessions or to Cassiopeia blocked for anyone who breaks these terms or puts other people at risk. Where it is needed to keep people safe, this can happen without notice.
No warranty
Cassiopeia is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind. It may have bugs, change, or be unavailable at times.
Data saved in your browser can be lost if the browser clears it. Don't rely on Cassiopeia as the only record of anything important.
Limits of liability
As far as the law allows, the people who make Cassiopeia are not liable for indirect or consequential losses from using it, including lost data or lost work. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have by law that cannot be taken away.
Changes
These terms will change as Cassiopeia grows. The date at the top shows when they were last updated. Continuing to use Cassiopeia means you accept the current version.
